The Betrayal

The thought of the betrayal of an affair never had crossed my mind and the mind of the others who knew the two. They seemed the perfect match and when the news of his deceitful act had reached the air, it was contaminated with my doubt. My friend had pulled me aside, tears started flowing with no idea of where this news was heading I tried to consolidate her.  However I felt no words could be said that would make up for the words that left her lips ‘my dad left’.

The silence of shock resinated, disbelief and daze seemed to flood into my hearing, as I tried to understand those three words that had been said. She went on to explain that her dad had found a younger better looking woman, and he had left her mum and her siblings. Memories came back to me of the happy family they were. The two of them were inseparable or so it would have seemed.

A house that was always full of laughter, a family that adored one another and acted like any other family would. But what doomed on me was that in that household everything would now change, with that one piece of the picture missing. A terrible thought came to me, would this mean my family would be torn apart to? What would stop my parents from separating? We acted like the perfect family, we laughed and had great lives together, but were we safe from this cheating and distrust like I had always thought impossible.
